From The City of Simpsonville
On 11/7/2017 a man with a gun was located in the parking lot of Hillcrest High School. Nobody was injured and school is operating as normal.
This morning at Hillcrest High School (3665 S. Industrial Drive) School Resource Officers had eye witnesses tell them that there was a man in the parking lot with a gun. Upon approach by law enforcement, the suspect fled in his vehicle off school grounds. The suspect was then located on 385N near Hwy 276. A traffic stop was conducted and the suspect, identified as 17-year-old Clayton Keith Hopkins, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds. Hopkins was a former student of Hillcrest High School.

The Simpsonville Police Department can confirm that the gun involved in the incident is a BB gun.
Clayton Keith Hopkins was transferred to GCDC on an $11,000 security bond.
