The Golden Strip is heading into election filing season for the November 7, 2017 municipal elections. Information for Mauldin, Simpsonville, and Fountain Inn are listed below.
The City of Mauldin opened filing at 12 pm on July 12 for candidates wishing to run for City Council in this year’s municipal election to be held on November 7. The filing closes at 12 pm on August 15. Candidates will file for a seat they wish to run for and the election for that seat is a non-partisan, city-wide race. Seats open for filing, as well as current incumbents, include:
Ward 1 – Taft Matney
Ward 3 – Terry Merritt
Ward 5 – Dale Black

The City of Simpsonville will open filing at 12 pm on Friday, July 14 and will close filing on August 15 at 12 pm. Simpsonville candidates must live in the ward they are running for, but still will run city-wide in a non-partisan election. Seats open for filing, as well as current incumbents, include:
Ward 2 – Taylor Graham
Ward 4 – Elizabeth Braswell
Ward 6 – Sylvia Lockaby

The City of Fountain Inn will open filing on July 17 at 12 pm and will close filing on August 15 at 12 pm. The election will be non-partisan. Seats open for filing, as well as current incumbents, include:
Ward 1 – John Mahony
Ward 3 – Rose Ann Woods
Ward 5 – Berry Woods
