On June 27, 2017, Simpsonville City Council approved the 2017-2018 Budget. The new budget contains some changes that will affect some residents and businesses in Simpsonville.
Residential, Mobile Home Parks, and Duplexes
Trash, Recycling, and Leaf Collection
There will be no changes to trash, recycling, and leaf collection. Ace Environmental will continue to provide and collect one trash and one recycling container per residence at no cost to the resident. Additional containers are available for a monthly collection fee payable to Ace Environmental.
Ace Environmental will also continue to collect bagged leaves on a weekly basis.
The City of Simpsonville will resume the collection of brush. The City is currently in the process of obtaining the necessary equipment and personnel to resume bi-weekly brush collection. It will take a few months to prepare and implement full-time collection of brush. In the meantime, Ace Environmental will continue to collect bundled brush on a weekly basis. During this period, the City will use our current, but limited resources to supplement the collection of brush and white goods on an as needed, by request basis. The City will make reasonable efforts to fulfill brush requests in a timely manner.
To request a pick-up contact Public Works at 864-967-9531
The City of Simpsonville will discontinue trash, recycling, and yard debris collection for commercial properties and businesses except those identified in the newly designated Core Central Business District. The CCBD consist of tax parcels and/or lots with frontage along N. Main Street, NE Main Street, S. Main Street, and SE Main Street between Garrison Road and Chancellors Park Court. Businesses located within the Core Central Business District will receive collection of one trash container. Recycling, extra trash container, and yard debris collection is the responsibility of the business. Arrangements for these services can be made directly through Ace Environmental.
The last day of service for commercial properties/businesses is Friday, July 28, 2017.
Public Works Fee
The 2017-2018 Budget includes an increase in the Public Works fee from $24 to $34 per year. Additionally, the Public Works fee will be collected on the number of separate units or businesses on each tax parcel. For example, the owner of a property with five business tenants will be billed the $34 fee per tenant for a total of $170. The same principle applies to mobile parks and duplexes. The increase will be assessed on the 2018 Greenville County Tax Bill.
