After weeks of debate, Fountain Inn City Council voted to transfer the Younts Center to The Cultural Arts Foundation of Fountain Inn, also known as CAFFI, a 501(c)(3) who operates on behalf of the arts in Fountain Inn. For the past four years CAFFI has leased the Younts Center while raising money for renovations and improvements.
According to City Attorney David Holmes, the City of Fountain Inn will allocate $200,000 of the yearly budget to the Younts Center.
Since last month, council meetings have been frequented by a community who has shown great interest in support of the Younts Center. Much of that support was fueled by concern for the Fountain Inn Repertory Experience (FIRE), whose fate is still unknown.
