More than 200 people from Simpsonville and Mauldin attended what was called an “Old Fashioned Hot Dog Supper” Monday night at the Mauldin Cultural Center. It was a fundraiser for S.C. House Representative Garry Smith of District 27. Everyone enjoyed good food, great fellowship, and strong endorsements from a who’s-who of state, regional, and local politicians.
Speaker of the House Jay Lucas drove more than three hours, from Darlington, South Carolina, to deliver a warm and resounding endorsement of Representative Smith, citing his proven ability, personal integrity, hard work, and loyal service to his constituents. Other elected officials attending the dinner included Representative Dwight Loftis (chairman of the Greenville Legislative Delegation), Representative Mike Burns, and Representative Mark Willis.
The event also brought in Greenville Water Commission Chairman Philip Kilgore, Greenville County Councilman Joe Dill, Simpsonville Mayor Janice Curtis, Simpsonville Mayor Pro Tem Matthew Gooch, Mauldin Mayor Dennis Raines, as well as Mauldin City Council members Taft Matney, Terry Merritt, Larry Goodson, and Scott Crosby.
