Friends and supporters of S.C. House District 27 Representative Garry R. Smith are hosting an “old fashioned hot dog supper” as a campaign fundraising event on Monday, May 22, between 6:00 – 8:00pm at the Mauldin Cultural Center. The keynote address will be delivered by S.C. House Speaker “Jay” Lucas. Other special guests will include Mauldin Mayor Dennis Raines, Simpsonville Mayor Janice Curtis and Belinda Smith, Garry’s wife of 38 years.
Unlike many political fundraisers, this will be a family-friendly event to support Representative Smith’s re-election campaign. “All-you-can-eat” hot dogs with all the trimmings will be the main course, and root beer floats will be served for dessert. Smith, originally from Aiken County and now a resident of the Golden Strip, was first elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 2003. He currently serves on the House Ways & Means Committee, and is Chairman of the House Operations and Management Committee. Smith has a reputation as being hard working conservative who is genuinely concerned about his constituents with a bias towards helping those most in need.
