May brings the return of two signature events in Simpsonville: The Fair at Heritage Park and Sippin’ in Simpsonville. Both events have attracted visitors from all over the south in previous years, with the latter being quickly sold out for the last three. Here’s the skinny for locals that want to get their tickets now.
What: The Fair at Heritage Park
When: May 18-28
Where: Simpsonville’s Heritage Park, 861 SE Main Street
The Fun: If traditional fair fare from funnel cakes to corn dogs isn’t enough, head to the Fair for the Team Rock Ninja Experience, Exotic Petting Zoo, High Wire Demonstrations, and Daily Helicopter Rides. Full scale rides for all ages fill the fairground to the left of the amphitheatre, and bracelets can be purchased for those able to keep up an entire day of fun. After 6pm each day a backdrop of live music will flow from the amphitheatre stage, and the lineup includes Doug McCormick and Spencer Rush.
The event is in its third year in Simpsonville, and has been a big hit for both families and music lovers.
Opening night is Friday, May 18, beginning at 4pm.
What: Sippin’ in Simpsonville
When: Friday, May 12, 6pm
Where: Check in at the Chamber Office, 100 West Trade Street. Event takes place along Main and Curtis Streets in downtown Simpsonville
The Fun: This event began seven years ago as a way to showcase the restaurants and businesses of Simpsonville’s historic downtown. Guests receive a lanyard with tasting cards for each participating location, and card stubs are exchanged for a wine sample and food pairing. Sippin’ has been a wildly successful event for the Simpsonville Area Chamber of Commerce, downtown businesses, and event sponsors. Because the wine is limited and a sell out is likely, tickets should be purchased in advance through the Chamber office or website.
